Is a Facelift for You?

At the Center for Plastic Surgery at Castle Rock, our Denver patients often ask us what the best age for a facelift is. A fine balance teetering between too soon and too late, we believe that there is no one correct age. In fact, age alone has very little to do with deciding the right time to have a facelift.

At some point, we will all experience the effects that time will have on our appearance. For some, it can be as early as their 40s, but for others, facial rejuvenation may not be needed until their 50s or even 60s.

If not by age, then how do you know when you are ready for a facelift?

Weak Contours

The youthful radiance of razor sharp cheekbones fades as our face loses its once strong and well-defined facial structure. A facelift reconciles a weakened appearance by focusing on tightening and lifting the underlying layers of facial muscle and fat. Using your bone structure as a guide, Denver area facail plastic surgeon Dr. Archibald is able to give your face a naturally voluminous appeal.

Slack Jawline

As we age, our face does a somewhat downward slide. Once taut and tight, our skin becomes loose and has a tendency to sag around the jowls and neck. A facelift eliminates the lax skin that accumulates and hangs from the neck. By carefully trimming excess skin, we are able to create a defined jawline and restore a youthful facial contour.

Deep Nasolabial Folds

Starting out as a slight crease, small lines soon develop into deep and noticeable wrinkles. Commonly known as “laugh lines”, nasolabial folds extend from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth. However, unlike their name would suggest, few find anything funny about these lines. Expertly re-draping the skin, your surgeon is able to soften the appearance of deep and troublesome wrinkles.

Aging can have an undesirable effect on our appearance. We recognize that for each of our patients, the age at which a facelift is “best” varies. Schedule a consultation with us to see learn if a facelift is right for you.
