When it comes to your breast augmentation, there are a lot of factors to consider and it only makes sense that you will have questions for your plastic surgeon. Each Woman Is Different
As with any cosmetic procedure, recovery time varies from patient to patient. There are many elements that are a part of your recovery. Some of the aspects that Dr. Rhee will consider as he answers your question include:
- Your breast size before augmentation
- Your desired breast size following augmentation
- The style of your enhancement (such as where the incision is placed)
- Your choice of implant (silicone, saline, or fat grafting)
- Medical history and your age
How long will a full recovery take after breast augmentation?
On average, it takes a healthy woman four to six weeks to make a full recovery. By full recovery, we mean the amount of time it will takes to get back to the majority of your activities including more strenuous tasks like working out or moving heavier objects. While you may be able to resume some activities earlier, Dr. Rhee advises his patients to plan for this amount of time.
Remember, the Exact Time Will Vary
Although four to six weeks is the average time for a full recovery, Dr. Rhee will clear say that it’s okay to head back to work within a week of the surgery. Keep in mind your surgeon will most likely be monitoring your condition and will no doubt give you a specific “OK” to go back to work.
Your Recovery Will Come in Stages
Recovering from breast augmentation comes in stages. You will be able to achieve certain “milestones” after varying times—these stages include:
- 24-48 hours after surgery
- 1 week after surgery
- 4 weeks after surgery
- 6 weeks after surgery
After the initial one to two days, most of woman find the first week to be the most trying. Dr. Rhee will see you at regular intervals to clear you for certain tasks. Most importantly, we remind you to take things slowly and not to push your body too much, too soon.
